One of our dentists will then take a mold of your mouth, in order to make a pair of teeth whitening trays. Custom-made trays ensure the proper administration of the teeth whitening chemicals, yielding better results than one-size-fits-all home kits. The whitening trays will take a couple of weeks to be made.
During your whitening session, the dentist will make sure your gums are properly protected from the whitening chemicals before beginning the process. A blue lamp will then be placed over your teeth. This light activates the chemicals in the teeth whitening trays, and begins the process. The treatment should take two hours, and the results can last many months, depending on the maintenance of your health.
Teeth whitening may cause slight sensitivity during, and after, the session. Otherwise, there are rarely any other complications and it is a simple procedure. If sensitivity is felt, contact our dentist.
After the session, our dentist will give you some kits to top up your whitening at home. These should be used every six to nine months, where necessary, to ensure the maintenance of your whitening.
